Could be very nice to have an option to customize a release catalogue number instead of a plain EAN number. Usually it is a few digit code that reminds the label name followed by a short number.

Is this technically possible? a release could look more professional with a proper catalogue number instead of a random number.

thanks for listening

Hi Faust

Thanks for your message and the question posed. It is indeed possible to include a custom release number in the metadata. However, this can only be along with the EAN, not instead of the same, simply because EAN is the code that all stores use as the primary identifier of individual releases. It is the industry standard used for all matters of content management and royalty accounting, which is why it does not make any sense to replace it with a custom catalogue number.

Thanks for your post, Rob

Hi Rob,
thanks a lot for your reply, this is perfectly fine for me.
If you can add to Rebeat an optional custom metadata field as "release code number" I think this is very good. Not to replace the EAN, of course EAN is necessary but having it as release number too make very difficult to organize a proper catalog.

Thanks again for listening

Hi Rob,
Any news about this one?
Is there any chance to have it in the next Rebeat Update?
just a metatag field for catalogue number on the "main new release" page could be perfect, I hope beatport can use it correctly instead of the EAN code as catalogue number.
thanks a lot for listening, have a good summer!

Any news about this feature?

just an optional metatag filed to add at the new release page.

some shop could use it other not, no problem, up to them.

if there are some specific reason to not do it could be nice to know more.

thanks Rob, keep up the good work on MES
